Shania Twain has revealed that she will chronicle her musical comeback by starring in her own reality TV show.

The singer, whose last studio album Up! was released eight years ago, has since launched her own fragrance collection and acted as guest judge on this year's American Idol.

According to People, the 44-year-old plans to revive her music career this year in front of the cameras by starring in Why Not? With Shania Twain.

The program will be shown through Oprah Winfrey's television network, OWN.

A statement from the TV company said: "The show will follow [Twain] as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures."

A broadcast date for the series has yet to be announced.
